Abstract

Humans are by nature social beings as they are naturally oriented towards their own kinship. Without this affiliation and co-existence which serve as stimuli for survival, human could not have ostensibly lived a peaceful and meaningful life. Across time, when human beings started early societies and began living together, it was this collectivism and cohesion that resulted in the formation of cultures and civilizations which then paved way to evolutionary progress. On a broader term, all the nations of the world and societies have their own distinct cultures that entail and serve to connect them to their authentic culture and identity their beliefs, rituals and customs, values, norms, morals and general behavior, and any other capabilities and social habits acquired by man as a member of society. Also, culture measures cognitive growth, quality and materialistic vitality of the society. Shangla is a poverty-stricken, remote and out-of-step mountainous region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with its population exceeding seven hundred and fifty thousand inhabitants is not without its distinct culture and colors steeped throughout its history. This research paper sheds light on the distinct culture and colors of Shangla region with reference to its history in an abridged way.
