Universal Romanticism in Poetry of Khushal Khan Khattak

Abstract

Romanticism, in literary world, is a movement that originated in eighteenth century after the Revolution of France. It's main feature is the freedom of a person's emotions and feelings. Although this movement came into Pashtu Literature in twentieth century, yet all of its features were already present in Pashtu Folklore Literature. In this article, we will try to discuss those aspects of Romanticism in Khushal Khan Khattak's poetry which he discussed in seventeenth century. Although Khushal Khan Khattak isn't consciously a member of this movement, or existed before this movement, yet one can find everything, about Romanticism, which it considers universal. In this article, Khushal Khan and his concept of Romanticism has been analyzed in universal context.
