A Critical Analysis of Edited Texts of Kamgar Khan’s Devan in Light of Established Principals of Textual Criticism
Abstract
Study of Textual criticism of Pashto classical texts have gained velocity in recent years. Kamgar Khan is a classical poet of golden period in Pashto. His devan has edited by different scholars over an extended period of time and has been published many times from Peshawar and Kabul. This article is a textual critique of all the edited versions of devan. Following the established principals of textual criticism these editions of devan have been closely studied, critiqued and compared. A few pitfalls have been pointed out in the paper. This study would be interesting for future researcher as well as textual critics and editors of Pashto.
