A Comparative Study of Linguistic Commonalities of Balochi and Pashto

Abstract

The present study attempts to study the linguistic similarities between Balochi and Pashto Languages. It sheds light on the alphabetical commonalities between Pashto and Balochi languages to understand the similarities in their alphabetical structure. Similarly, it also attempts to study the phonetic similarities between both languages to assess the commonalities in the sounds and pronunciations of words in both languages. In the last section, this paper lists certain grammatical commonalities between both languages to see their commonality in the form of sentence structure and contextual use of words. It discusses the extent to which both languages have alphabets that are similar and derived from same language. It also brings into consideration the sounds of different original and borrowed words of both languages to see if there is some commonality among both. It also discusses as to what extent the structure of language is shaped by common grammatical rules and procedures.
