On Two Ancient Pashto Qaseedas
Abstract
Various literary genres have their history of evolution in a particular literature. There are many genres in Pashto literature. All of them have their history and background of their introduction in Pashto literature. Among them one literary genre is qasida. It is a very famous and popular genre in Pashto literature. It has its roots in Arabic literature. From Arabic it came to Pashto via Persian literature. The first qasida in Pashto is that of Shaikh Asad Sori. Later on this genre developed in Pashto literature. This article describes the origin, evolution and arrival of qasida into Pashto literature.
