This study explores the historical development of Mardan, one of the most significant regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. This research investigates Mardan’s geographical, political, and cultural importance in the historical evolution of the Pashtun tribes. This study analyzes the role of the Yousafzai settlement, tribal organization, and regional power dynamics that shaped the district’s historical identity. Particular attention is given to the interaction between local tribal traditions and broader political developments in the northwestern frontier. Using a qualitative and historical research approach, the paper evaluates different interpretations of Pashtun history and its relevance to understanding Mardan’s past. This study concludes that Mardan occupied a central position in the socio-political history of the Yousafzai Pashtuns and emerged as an influential center of cultural and historical significance in the region.
