Dr. Muhammad Azam Azam is one of the most prominent and well known literary figure, who is considered as one of the greatest poet and prose writer. His prose and poetry are comparatively of standards. Furthermore as a dramatist his plays portrays society and could be seen that the story is happening right now. His plays are effective but here our main concern is with his poetry. As poets are most commonly praising the beauty of their beloveds, but on the contrast. Dr. Muhammad Azam Azam is different among such poets. If they are praising their Love, Dr. Muhammad azam cries the pain of Pashtoon society or Pashtoon land.If other poets are busy with their Layla’s beauty and overwhelming dance, he writes about the starving one. It is easy to understand others poet’s poetry who writes of love but Dr Azam is complex. In addition with if we study his attitude towards Ghazal writing, his Ghazal seems different from others though those poets are considered to be prominent Ghazal writers of same region ( Charsadda). For example; Ghazal of Maftoon, Ghazal of Gran and Ghazal of Saleem Raaz etc are different and comparatively Azam’s diction and style is diffrerent. If one critically analyze the purpose of Ghazal it could be seen that it is type of poetry which preaches peace and mourns mourning spots of community or society. The Ghazal of Dr. Azam is the same mirror that reflects the lives of individuals of his society, and especially he highlights those things which other poets are not comfortable to reveal. Which means that Dr. Azam has truly depicted a complete picture of his society and had uncovered the ugliest one’s to reveal the reality of society. In conclusion, if his poetry is imitating a true picture of society same his prose has the ability to portray it well.
