By the end of twentieth century, Pashto literature produced many writers whom this land and its Pashtun inhabitants can proudly and honorably look up to. Apart from men, some female writers also have contributed to this field and fulfilled their part with great dedication. Among these great female writers is Sayyeda Hasina Gul, who has not only made a valuable contribution to Pashto poetry but has also enriched Pashto prose with the warmth and depth of her thoughts. Themes such as women- identity, emotional depth, class struggle, cultural norms and traditions and social hierarchy are are frequently found in her work. So far, Gul has published seven prose books, including three notable short story collections. Here is a thematic overview of all the stories from her second short story collection ‘Da Ukhko Maarghaan’.
